An inspiring performance from Iranian Superstar Meraj Sheykh helped the Eagles to finish their league stage of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi with flying colours.
Dabang Delhi defeated the home side Bengal Warriors 37-31 after a thrilling 40 minutes of intense action.
Playing the last match before playoffs, our Chief Coach, Krishan Kumar Hooda went with a full strength Dabang Delhi Playing 7 for the first time since our last home leg win against Tamil Thalaivas.
The wildcard match was off to a brisk start as Maninder Singh started the game with a brilliant Super Raid. Their joy didn't last long as our Dabangs fought back with multiple two point raids inside first 10 minutes. The score after first quarter of the game was 10-all and then came four empty raids in a row. The Eagles decided to change the gears and paced things up in no time. With five minutes left in the first half, we inflicted the first all out of the match on the home side, thanks to a brilliant two-point raid from the Iranian Dabang!
The Eagles finished the first half with a healthy lead of six points as the score read 14-20. It was a slow start for our boys in the second half. The home side managed to make a good comeback with some flurry of points at the start of the second half. They also took a lead for the first time post that opening raid from Maninder as the score now read 23-22 in favour of the home side.
The match went down to the wire with the scores 31-31 with one minute left in the game and we were expecting another tie in Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 6. But Meraj had other thoughts. The Iranian scalped a five-point raid and sealed the deal for the Eagles.
Dabang Delhi will now wait for other Zone B results to find out who they'll be playing in their playoff encounter on 30th December 2018 in Kochi.
