In yet another dominating show, Dabang Delhi K.C defeated Ajay Thakur's Tamil Thalaivas 37-33 in the last home leg game at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi.
The win also ensured Dabang Delhi another step closer to seal their playoff berth and knocked Haryana Steelers out of the Vivo ProKabaddi Season 6.
Both teams were off to a slow start. The first four raids from both sides resulted with no points. Meraj Sheykh broke the deadlock and gave the Eagles their first point of the match. Our defence doubled it by taking down the big fish, Ajay Thakur. There was no stopping our Dabangs from that point and we managed to inflict the first all out on the visitors in the 9th minute of the game.
Tamil Thalaivas did their best to make a comeback. At the close of the opening half the score was 16-11. It was neck in neck in the first three minutes of the second half to the point when Thalaivas' ace defender Manjeet Chhillar was given a yellow card for arguing with the referee. The next two minutes were enough for our boys to wreck their remaining defence and for the second time we inflicted an all out on the visiting team with the score reading 27-17.
The Eagles stretched the lead with three quick points, and also managed to take down the visiting Captain Ajay Thakur for the fourth time in this match. With 10 minutes remaining, Chandran Ranjit was tackled and that brought back their captain Ajay Thakur.
Tamil Thalaivas' Captain gave it his all and went on to score 8 raid points in a row. The game came down to the wire and with just over 2 minutes left in the game, the score was 35-31 to the Eagles.
Having already scored 8 raid points in his previous 8 raid attempts, Tamil Thalaivas hopes were on Ajay Thakur. But the Indian National Kabaddi Team Captain had no answer to the home team's defence. He got Super Tackled and there was no coming back for Tamil Thalaivas.
Meraj Sheykh (9 raid points) and Naveen Kumar (8 raid points) were once again the star raiders for the Eagles. Vishal Mane finished the game with another High 5 and given the award for the ace defender of the match.
The Eagles will now travel to Hyderabad to play U Mumba on Tuesday, 11th December.
