Match No. 32 of Vivo Pro Kabaddi in The Arena, Ahmedabad witnessed a thrilling encounter between us and Tamil Thalaivas, which went down the wire. The Eagles bagged their second win in the tournament, courtesy a magnificent Super Raid by skipper Meraj Sheykh in the dying moments.
Till the half-time it was all evens-stevens with both teams railing on 12-12. But post break Tamil Thalaivas came hard on us, then came a ray of hope for us in the form of Abolfazl Maghsodlou (11 points), who suddenly drifted the momentum back on our side. After that, his fellow countryman Meraj Sheykh (9 points) did the rest as we eventually went on to win the match 30-29. Talking about milestones, couple of records were achieved in the first half as we completed 500 successful Tackles and 250 Do-or-die-points in Pro Kabaddi history.
Players like Rohit Baliyan (3 points), R.Sriram (2 points) and Shubham Palkar (1 points) rose to the occasion, when the team was expecting them to fire. The Iranian duo, Meraj and Abolfazl added 20 vital points for the team as they painted the canvas with the colours of victory. This collective effort from us changed the equation of the game completely as The Eagles kept their nerves calm under pressure. This win is like a second birth for us in the tournament and after this victory the confidence in the camp is definitely sky high.
The Eagles are ready to fly in city of Nawabs, Lucknow as we battle it with Haryana Steelers on 23rd August.
