The Rise of Meraj Sheykh

Meraj Sheykh entered Pro Kabaddi League in the second season, where he was picked by Telugu Titans. Impressing in his first few appearances, Meraj went on to become a household name at the completion of the season. With his all-round abilities, the Iranian was successfully winning points on the mat and winning Indian hearts off it.

Meraj played 43 matches before this season with 161 points to his name. Raiding being his main domain, Meraj was no mug in his defensive skills. The strongly built Iranian, had 119 raiding points in 291 raids and also has 42 defence points with 36 successful tackles.

Captaining the Telugu side in 2015, Meraj remained focussed and didn’t let the pressure harm his performance. He was a true leader as he showed great composure and character while captaining the side. After being in the Telugu side for 2 seasons, he made his way to Dabang Delhi last season. He was undoubtedly our best player in season IV and was given the captain’s armband in the latter half of the season.

Meraj holds the key for us this season as well. Shining brightly last time, he was rightly retained by the Dabang think tank and the Iranian hasn't disappointed. He has scored 22 points in the first five matches and would look to lift his game considerably in the coming matches.
